Pensacola, Fla. – An inmate worker walked away from the Escambia County Jail located on “L” Street at 8 a.m.

The inmate, identified as Michael Eugene Washington, 41, was seen walking westbound on Fairfield Drive. Officers quickly convened and observed him walking toward Pace Blvd., where he climbed onto the roof of a building in the 2800 block of North Pace Blvd. The building was surrounded and Washington was taken into custody within ten minutes of his escape.
