Chumuckla Elementary to be checked for mold

SANTA ROSA COUNTY   --  Next week the Santa Rosa County School District will begin testing one of its oldest schools for mold.
  
Some people in the district are concerned Chumuckla Elementary may be infested with a toxic growth.

"Chumuckla Elementary School has been around for 90 years. Now the Santa Rosa County School Board is having the building tested for mold."
   
Sherrie Joyner went to Chumuckla Elementary School in the early 80's.
She says she never noticed anything  unhealthy about the historic building.
   
But she believes the school should be tested.
Sherrie Joyner  "I would definitely be concerned especially with health issues they ned to get it fixed for the safety of the children and employees."
   
Professional service industries have ben hired to gather air samples and test for mold.

Shawna Lane  "Some of these schools are so old. 1:07:04 "Yeah definitely test it. What, are we going to allow some of the kids to get infections."
   
Tom Gonzalez's three children once attended the elementary school... He thinks the test would come up negative for any health concerns.
Tom Gonzalez  "It's a neat school and it's clean, so yeah it would surprise me."

"School officials say they probably won't have the results of the test for another few weeks."
