Possible New commander of US Pacific Fleet has strong ties to Pensacola

A Naval officer with strong ties to Pensacola could be the next commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet.

Vice Admiral Harry Harris Junior would take the place of Admiral Cecil Haney, who's been nominated to lead U.S. Strategic Command.
President Obama has also nominated Harris to receive his 4th star making him a full admiral.
Harris' family moved to Pensacola in 1968 and he graduated from Washington High School in 1974.

A Navy spokesperson expects Harris' promotion and the new post to be confirmed next month.
