And it's not just restaurants and hotels cashing in.
Business is booming for charter boat captains as well.
Just crossing over the bridge into Destin, you've probably already noticed the traffic. Memorial Day weekend is officially here and many are hoping for a good start to the summer season
After a long, cold winter, charter boat Captain Randy Race is excited to kick off Memorial Day weekend.
He's fully booked until Sunday, and is expecting more people to join him out on the water next week.
"This summer, all the kids will be out and all our fishing will be open."
People have been making reservations with charter boats at the Harbor all day, and the phone has been ringing off the hook.
On a good weekend, all these charter boats will be out on the water. That's expected this weekend.
"Seems to be plenty of people. Anyone who wants to go fishing this weekend should have a great time of it."
Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial kickoff for the summer season.
People are already flooding the beaches in Destin and taking advantage of the beautiful weather.
Race is hoping to make up for a slow winter season these next few months.
"We're hoping for a great kickoff. Memorial Day kickoff and the rest of the season being fabulous."
And it's not just crowded on the docks.
At Poppy's Crazy Lobster Grill and Bar, managers are bringing in more staff in anticipation for the busy weekend.
And are also stocking up on crawfish, and preparing for a fireworks show.
"After the oil spill, we've been picking back up. We're expecting this season to be the best one yet. We can't wait."
As for the charter boat captains, they're expecting to stay busy these next few weeks. Especially next weekend, when red snapper season begins.
