Mobile Highway pedestrian accident

ESCAMBIA CO., Fla. -- A man was sent to the hospital Wednesday morning after being hit by a car on Mobile Highway overnight.

Mobile Highway is a busy road, it's not uncommon to see pedestrians walking up and down the sidewalks, or trying to cross the street, but that action can prove dangerous.

Florida Highway Patrol was called out to Mobile Highway near Cherokee Trail a little after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night when witnesses reported a man had been struck by a vehicle. Florida Highway Patrol says the victim was trying to cross the street when the driver of a 2009 Chevy Malibu hit the man.

The victim was transported to Baptist Hospital under a trauma alert with critical injuries.

Officers say if you are going to walk even on a side walk you should wear a reflective vest like this one so that driver have a better chance of seeing you.
