Federal rules releashed for red snapper fishing

The federal rules for red snapper fishing in the gulf this year are out.
And as expected the rules are changing to a more regional approach.

Different states have adopted different snapper limits in state waters.
States with longer seasons get shorter seasons in federal waters which begin nine miles from shore.

In Florida, the state season runs just 44 days from June 1st to July 14th.

So the federal season will be 26 days this year ending on June 27th.
The idea is to balance the overall catch in the gulf.
