Fla. lawmakers pass texting-while-driving ban
TALLAHASSEE A ban on texting and driving in Florida is headed to the governor's desk.
The state senate passed the bill yesterday.
Under the bill drivers would face a 30 dollar fine for the first offense, 60 dollars for a second offense within 5 years plus 3 points on their driving record.
And cell phone records can also be used if someone is injured or killed in an accident.
Many drivers say it's a good thing.
But many also admit it's going to be a hard habit to get rid of.
I personally feel it's a sigh of relief because teenagers text and drive and more accidents happen with teenagers and with this. They won't be able to do that.
I know this sounds cliché but I always think I'm always being careful, I'm not one that's going to get in an accident and so far I haven't.
If the governor signs the bill it will take effect October 1st.
