Proposals to lower number of Pensacola council seats on the fast track for June election
PENSACOLA -- The proposal to cut two at-large seats from the Pensacola City Council is on a fast track to get it on the ballot in June.
Councilman Larry Johnson introduced an ordinance that would reduce the size of the council from nine members to seven.
The ordinance will have its first reading at this Thursday's council meeting.
If it's approved the council will have a second reading at its May 9th meeting.
Another approval will put it on the ballot June 11th during the special election to fill the late Clay Ford's seat in the Florida House.
Tyler likes the idea, saying "Our job growth has been limited *because of these small minded people on the boards!"
But Mike says, "It's not like they do what the voters want anyway, if anything they need more people to get a better perspective of their actions, not fewer."
