Runners participate in Salt Lake City Marathon with extra security

Runners in Salt Lake City pounded the pavement in the Salt Lake City Marathon Saturday.

Security was there but runners didn't let that bother them as they remembered those in Boston.

They ran to the beat of "Sweet Caroline" in a tribute to Boston.

Runners trekked through the rain for miles passing extra security along the route.

At the same time, Salt Lake City Police detectives and intelligence specialists from across the country were inside an operations center keeping an eye on surveillance cameras, emails, and social media to track any dangers.

Some runners say they were a little nervous, but thousands crossed the finish line, proud and safe.
