Florida police sergeant fired for having Trayvon Martin shooting targets
A Florida police sergeant is out of a job Sunday after bringing targets that resemble a murdered teen to shooting practice.
They show the likeness of Trayvon Martin, the unarmed 17-year-old who was killed in Sanford last year.
Ron King handed out these targets to his fellow officers but the other cops told him to get rid of them.
Officials are now apologizing to the young man's family.
"We truly reach out and apologize to the family of Trayvon Martin for them needing to hear any of this and the grief that it must bring them, as well as all members of the community, that we just don't find this behavior acceptable on any level," said John Walsh, Canaveral Port Authority.
George Zimmerman is charged with second-degree murder in Trayvon Martin's death.
Zimmerman claims it was self-defense.
