Texting and Driving could soon be illegal in Florida

FLORIDA  --  Texting and driving could soon be illegal in Florida.
Legislation cleared the state senate yesterday that would create a state texting and driving and law.
The first offense would cost you 30 bucks.
A second texting offense the fine doubles to sixty dollars.
But it would be a secondary offense. That means an officer would have to pull you over for something else, but could still ticket you for texting.

Sot: Walt McNeil Quincy Police Chief
"The problem is that because it's not a law in our state, there are people who will do it and believe they can get away with it."

the legislation also specifies that if you crash because you're texting - you'll get six points on your license.
