Suspicious letters sent to president and Senator Wicker
The FBI says the letters sent to President Barack Obama and Senator Roger Wicker are related.
Investigators say both letters are postmarked out of Memphis Tennessee dated April 8th.
Both letters are also signed, "I am KC and I approve this message."
The FBI says the substance in both letters have preliminarily tested positive for ricin, a potentially fatal poison.
The letters are undergoing further testing because preliminary field tests can be unreliable, creating false positives.
These tests are undertaken at remote sites to mitigate the risk both to those recipients and to the general population.
But for now the FBI says it is pursuing investigative leads to determine who sent the letters.
