TRACKING THE TROPICS

On the map below, the circle over the Gulf of Mexico is for an area of low pressure likely heading toward the Texas/Mexico border.  Development is not expected.  Also, we're tracking Cristobal and a tropical wave over the eastern Caribbean Sea that may become another depression though chances are low.

Pensacola Bay Center to get much needed facelift

PENSACOLA   --  The Pensacola Bay Center is almost 20 years old and management says it's time to give it a face lift.

A facelift that could cost more than 10 million dollars.
The parking lot at the Pensacola Bay Center isn't in the best shape. There are potholes and several areas where grass is growing up through the pavement.

There are more than 70 improvements that management wants to make to the building both inside and outside. They are looking to replace the seating, upgrade the concession stands and bathrooms, get a new marquee and even purchase a new Zamboni.

But there are a few big ticket items on their list like adding acoustic walls for the arena- that's 1 million dollars right there. And fans of the Ice Flyers may like this.   A new scoreboard- also checking  in at 1 million dollars. So do you think these renovations totaling more than 10 million dollars will enhance your experience at events?

Donald Kleifgen
"I consider updating much better than a total rebuild."

Bonnie Hosey
"You don't have to go in and redo the whole thing. Just make sure the electricity works and the plumbing is all going."

Management at the Bay Center have broken up the capital improvement plan into three phases each costing about 3 million dollars.
