Man crashes into building on Gulf Beach Highway

ESCAMBIA COUNTY   --  Members of an Escambia County Am-Vet post are cleaning up a big mess this morning after a man lost control of his van and crashed into

The building is on Gulf Beach Highway.
This is the second time in the last five years the building has been hit.

Last time it was a hit and run and the post was left picking up the tab.
Thankfully for the members this time around things are a little different.

This is what is left of the office at the AMVET hall after a man driving a van crashed into it.

The driver of this van failed to make the curve here on Gulf Breeze Highway and found himself and his passenger lodged in the AMVETS building.

No one was inside the hall at the time of the accident and the driver and his passenger were not injured.
Gulf Power and ESP were called out to the building to cut the electric and gas lines.

A tow truck  was called to the scene and removed the van.
Mike Munis- AMVET member
"This is a dangerous part of the highway. I don't know what we can do. We've complained. It's an ongoing problem that won't be corrected until the county decides to do something."

Members of the hall say they will be here for several hours, cleaning up the mess and making sure the building is safe.
