Okaloosa County dredging project

OKALOOSA COUNTY  --  Okaloosa commissioners are also considering whether to help pay for dredging the entrance to Destin Harbor.
  
The erosion of Norriego Point is filling the pass with sand making it more difficult and dangerous to navigate.

The Army Corps of Engineers says it doesn't have the money to dredge the harbor.
The Destin City Council says the project would cost under 200,000 dollars.
  
They'll kick in 20,000 and they're asking the county to use Bed Tax money up to 180,000 dollars to pay the rest.
  
The pass is heavily used by recreational and fishing boats throughout the year.
