Gulf Islands National Seashore additional cuts from sequester

GULF ISLANDS NATIONAL SEASHORE   --  The Gulf Islands National Seashore could be facing some additional closures in the coming months.

Their budget was cut by  5% after the first phase of the sequester kicked in on March 1st.
Steve McCoy, the Deputy Superintendent of Gulf Islands National Seashore, says sand removal from roads and bike lanes will also be cut back.
Instead of hiring outside contractors to clean the roads, the park service will do it themselves.
McCoy estimates this could double the time it takes to clear them.
