Gulf Breeze house fire investigation
GULF BREEZE -- The State Fire Marshal is investigating an overnight fire that destroyed a home in Gulf Breeze.
Fire crews were called to the home on Longwood Drive around two this morning.
The fire threatened neighboring homes but was contained and put out in about 45 minutes.
Jeremy Howsare and his dog were inside the home when it started.
Howsare says he smelled something burning and that the smoke alarm did not go off.
But he was able to get out in time.
Howsare was not hurt.
One firefighter was taken to the hospital.
Emergency crews say his injuries are minor and he is expected to be okay.
