New NAS exhibit opens honoring women

NAS PENSACOLA   --  The stories of the sacrifices and hard work of women in Naval Aviation are now being shared aboard NAS Pensacola.

A new exhibit titled "From typewriters to strike fighters" opened today at the National Naval Aviation Museum.
It highlights the careers of women who served from World War I "Yeomanettes" in 1917 to the women who are serving today.
Visitors can hear personal interviews from pilots and aviators on a multi-screen video wall.
"It's a touchstone for us to be in these venerated halls, the Guardians of Freedom and the gals are never comfortable being brought out just because they are women but the public has asked."
The exhibit also features lots of historic flight suits, photographs and memorabilia.
The museum is open seven days a week, 9 am - 5 pm .
