Final phase of Foley Beach Expressway to begin next week
Crews broke ground Friday on the final phase of the Foley Beach Expressway.
Construction should begin next week on the interchange at County Road 68 connecting Interstate-10 to Orange Beach and Gulf Shores.
Once it's finished, the Expressway will cut down on traffic congestion on Highway 59 and will serve as an evacuation route.
Construction should be complete by fall of next year.
The total project cost $87 million.
