Melinda McCormick murder news conference with Sheriff Morgan

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. -- The state attorneys office could seek the death penalty against three people who are accused of beating a woman then setting her on fire.

Gregory Williams, Keisha Pugh and Anthony Pressley are all charged with first degree murder and armed robbery
On March 31st, Melinda McCormick was found dead inside her burning apartment off of Mobile Highway.

Deputies say an autopsy shows McCormick was hit 40 times with a hammer, lead pipe, and crow bar.
The State Fire Marshall's Office says she was still alive when her bed sheets were set on fire.

Security video showed the three suspects leaving the burning home.

Investigators say all three admitted to planning her death.
Their motive was to steal her social security benefits and kill her.

Arson charges may also be added.
