Research shows yelling at your kids is bad for them

Parenting a teenager can be challenging especially when dealing with disagreements.
But new research shows that blowing up at your kids is not the answer.
Researchers found that when parents disciplined their teenagers by yelling, the teens were more likely to act up in school, lie to parents, or show signs of depression.
The study looked at almost 1000 two-parent families.
"you have to self soothe, you have to step away, get control of your own emotions.  Then decide what am i trying to do?  Do i need to discipline, to teach, or do i need to just have a conversation with them."

Parents say they usually yell because they take their child's behavior personally or they feel out of control.
