Twelve in Central Florida exposed to Tuberculosis
CENTRAL FLORIDA -- Twelve people have tested positive for tuberculosis exposure in central Florida.
Marion County health officials say they all had been in close contact with a high school student who tested positive in July.
They say they have not come down with the disease and are not contagious, but could if they don't receive preventative treatment.
Tuberculosis is an airborne disease that usually affects the lungs.
Symptoms include a cough lasting more than three weeks or coughing up blood, and fatigue.
It is potentially fatal if untreated.
