At least ten in Okaloosa County have Whooping Cough

OKALOOSA COUNTY   --  At least ten people in Okaloosa County have come down with Whooping Cough.

The Florida Department of Health says the outbreak involves two infants, and eight children, teens and adults.
Whooping Cough is a very contagious disease and spreads easily person to person.
The first symptoms are like those of a cold, including sneezing, runny nose, low-grade fever, and a mild cough.
Within two weeks, the cough becomes much worse.
It can be treated with antibiotics.
But health care officials are urging everyone to make sure they are up to date on vaccinations.
