Jake Peterson
Reporter

Where are you from?
I was born and raised in Moline, IL. It's a Mississippi River
town and I spent a lot of time along and in the river.

Where did you get your education?
I received my broadcast journalism degree from Western Illinois University in 2005.
I was an anchor and reporter for the campus station. Many of my best stories came
from the work I did at NPR affiliate WIUM. I earned two Iowa Associated Press
Awards for my work at the radio station.

Where have you worked before joining WEAR-TV?
Most recently,I was a bureau reporter for WPBN in Traverse City, MI. I covered ten
counties and reported on everything from blizzards to murders. Northern
Michigan is a beautiful region, but I was ready to get out of the snow.

What do you do when you’re not in the newsroom?
I love being outdoors, thats why I moved here. I know I'll spend many days along
the beach and at the golf course. I enjoy being around all types of
people and this career gives me a great chance to do that..
