   •  WATCH THE WEATHER

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are back in play Thursday, mainly in the afternoon. Highs will reach 88 degrees or so. The 4th of July will bring the same, with mostly cloudy skies and a pretty good chance for scattered thundershowers in the afternoon. However, the chance of rain after 8 pm is down to 20%, so local celebrations should be fine. Over the weekend, we'll be partly to mostly cloudy, and scattered showers will continue.

In the tropics, Tropical Depression 2 has formed in the far Eastern Atlantic. The storm should move to the W/NW over the next few days. Meanwhile, a wave in the Western Atlantic, near the Lesser Antilles, is not looking very organized Thursday morning. ~Christian Garman
