• ANGELS IN OUR MIDST
ESCAMBIA COUNTY - The Ladies Of Saint Monica's Episcopal Church In Cantonment were asked to create a quilt for the church's 50th anniversary commemorating the founding families.

They forged a bond during that project and have stayed together to support an agency whose mission resembles their works.

One pieces together fabric, the other pieces together lives.

Busy hands.

Skillful hands.

Patient hands.

We have four in there that we have not started on plus this one.

Meet Saint Monica's Sisterhood Of Quilters.

We don't only quilt, we eat together and play together and laugh and cry, pray...Hadn't fought yet.

For the past four years, they've brought their collective gifts to the table to make quilts for Favor House, the domestic violence shelter where women and their children find refuge from abuse.

Rusty Supernaw, Sisterhood of Quilters; They said they had 69 beds, so that was our first dedications. We said, We're going to do 69 beds this year. Well, as the beds grew with Favor House, so did our ambition.

Then we let all the babies take their quilts home with them so we can just keep going and going. We like to think there's going to be less, but there's not.

Rusty; If their babies are born while they're in the safe houses, we provide a layette. We try to determine if it's going to be a boy or a girl and we have it ready.

The sisterhood has donated 385 quilts to Favor House. Their bond reaches out to the sisters who often escape with only the clothes on their backs.

Laura Holden, Sisterhood of Quilters; Under other circumstances we might be there. And these women need help. And so, we're just glad to do this. This is just our little contribution.

Nancy Holland, Sisterhood of Quilters; We want them to feel that they're covered with love not only by a quilt but by people that don't even know them.

For some, it's really personal.

Rusty; I was a victim of domestic violence. And as a result of that, I felt that this was something that I needed to do.

Because I didn't have a Favor House and it makes a big difference.

Like the tattered and torn pieces of fabric they take to make something whole and beautiful, they hope the lives of the victims come together again as well.

Nancy; We have little labels on the corner that tell that we made them with tender loving care. And we hope that they'll always remember that.Angels In Our Midst "The Ladies Of Saint Monica's Episcopal Church"
