On the heels of the sudden darkness last Thursday, there were many bright spots found in the heart of the devastation.

When the tornado hit, it left a lot of stories of selfless acts of people coming to the aid of others.

We take a moment now to remember and salute these "Angels In Our Midst".

I appreciate the rescue workers. I appreciate the officers that helped me out. I appreciate all of the people that helped me.

Their jobs are to Rescue, To Protect, To Serve. We were reminded of what they put on the line everday, at a moment's notice.

Hortense Rease, Protected the Children; The garbage can, everything flew open. And I grabbed teh baby and put him in that bed, then I took him and went to the middle room.

There were shining examples of grace under fire. The workers at the Rock Child Development Center hid their own fears to focus on the helpless little ones in their care.

Tamkea McCormick, Calm Voice in the Storm; I heard the wind and I looked outside and I seen the wind and stuff was blowing so I immediately tried to rush and get all my kids toward the back. But, the window was busted. It happened so fast. But everyone's l.k.; got a little scratch and I kept them calm by singing little songs to them.

Then, there were complete strangers who didn't even think of their own safety and just rushed in to help.

James Showen, Rescued a trapped grandmother; The tree knocked the wall down. We were able to move some furniture out of the way and get her out.
I was glad I was able to help somebody because there was a gas leak here.

, Grateful Granddaughter; I didn't want nothing to happen to her so I had to get her out the best way I could. And they all got her out and she's o.k. now.

While mother nature was no respecter of persons, neither were the willing hands that converged on Greater Little Rock Baptist Church.

,Great Little Rock Trustee; The people here are from different churches around town that I see already. And folk that are members and former members and just members of other churches that are coming by and trying to help us. It's a very collective effort right now.

There were the ever faithful we've come to depend on; the Red Cross, The Salvation Army, and those incredible military men and women who are always there for this community.

Good neighbors came from everywhere. They just stepped in and did what needed to be done. From tarping a roof to giving someone a ride or just a shoulder to lean on.

In a time of crisis and need, you showed the compassion and spirit that make this a wonderful place to live.

And then, there were the Angels unseen...
