• ANGELS IN OUR MIDST
For the 15th year, an incredible group of people came together last friday to show what a lot of hands and a little bit of time can accomplish.

Here's a sample of what they did in one Day Of Caring.

They numbered 11-hundred-plus... Business executives, laborers, military personnel, educators, students...

This day, there is no status, no class, no position...Just everyone committed to one very special Day Of Caring for their community.

The children at Spencer Bibbs Elementary School will be greeted by a beautiful garden when they come to class. The Eastside neighborhood improvement association got Home Depot to donate plants and they're donating the labor.

Jeannie Rhoden, East Side Neighborhood; We choose once a year to team up with United Way to go out into our communities and show the people and schools and businesses that we care.

She teased her sister whenever their father's back was turned.

A retired principal, county commissioner Marie Young returns to the classroom. She's still capturing the children's attention as she stresses the importance of reading.

The homebound couple who live in this house could only watch as the weeds took over thier once beautifully manicured yard. In comes the Navy to the rescue; a team of Senior Chiefs And Chief Selectees.

Senior Chief Wayne Miller; I hope that we leave them with a beautiful space but also with the knowing that the military is here to support them as they support us.

The troubled youth who seek refuge at Lutheran Services' Currie House Or Safe Haven Shelters will find the handprints of the employees of Armstrong World Industries.

Chris Brecht, Armstrong World Industries; Paint the inside of the house, several rooms of the inside of the house. We're replacing ceiling fan, putting up a new fence, doing a lot of yard work outside.

Jamie Cochran; Lutheran Services; We save up a wish list throughout the entire year knowing that this one day will come and that somebody in the community is going to come out and make a difference. They're going to do all the things that normally we would not be able to do.

90 projects throughout the community, that's what the Angels can get done in just one Day Of Caring.
