• ANGELS IN OUR MIDST
Sometimes our upbringing influences who we are and what we become.

It is interesting how some people can even take adversities and hardships and use them to bring comfort to others.

This is the story of one woman who has lightened many a load.

Diane Somer, Miss Robbie's Daughter; She was very, very poor in a farm in Winona, Mississippi and she was helped when she was a child by the neighboring community.

So, she just turned that around and has made her life one of service.

It has indeed been a long life of service that Robbie Cravey has given to the community. For the past ten years she has volunteered helping patients at the surgery center.

Debbie Koenig, Clinical Manager; Greet them, take care of them, make their coffee for them; she'll come and tell us if somebody out here has a concern.

Debbie; We have great peace of mind when we know Miss Robbie's out here when we're working in the back. We don't have to worry.

Surgicare, May I help you.

Miss Robbie takes her post here two days a week and does vacation relief. But, her volunteer work started more than 40 years ago.

Miss Robbie; My mother died in 1967 and I was just lost. So, I went to the Escambia County Nursing Home and I worked there for 25 years.

Remembering the compassion of others in her youth, miss robbie used her personal pain to for a greater good. She immersed herself in doing for others.

She volunteered at the Manna Food Bank.

And, uh, Crisis Center. The Loaves and Fishes.Cerebral Palsy.

And the list goes on. She arranged her scheduled around being wife, mother, caregiver and a registered nurse but then, remember, she was no stranger to hard work.

I grew up on a farm and it was rough. Just think about in 1917.

That's right, 1917. Miss Robbie is celebrating 90 years and she's not ready for the rocker yet. After all, doing for others has given purpose to her life.

I'll be like the ever ready bunny. Keep going, and going and going.Angels In Our Midst (Robbie Cravey)
