MILTON, FL - Nine teenagers could be facing juvenile charges after what Santa Rosa Sheriff's Officers are calling the largest middle school drug bust in county history.

Greg Neumann has a follow-up now on a story we first brought you last night on Channel Three News at ten.

It's fall break for Santa Rosa County school kids.

But at the Milton Skate Park, there's a lot of talking about what happened at this school (Hobbs Middle School) last Friday.

"My brother told me that there was a drug bust at school and I didn't really know before that."

"All I know, is that somebody was selling stuff, and they had like, .4 ounces and stuff."

Acting on a tip from a student, administrators here notified the sheriff's office that drugs were possibly being dealt on campus.

The resource officer from Milton High School along with the sheriff's K-9 unit then conducted a sweep of the school.

"When they came, they were sniffing around classrooms finding out and one kid had .4 ounces in his cell phone, in the back of his cell phone where the battery is. And the dog sniffed that out so he got in trouble."

"Many of those students were surprised, at least at the number of kids that were arrested. And many parents we talked to, were shocked."

"I mean that's middle school kids, and, how they would get that stuff would be beyond me, you know."

And Jennifer Parkerson says it's reminded her to keep up with what her 8th grade son is doing at all times.

"I'll be keeping a more watch on and asking different questions and stuff after hearing stuff like that I mean just keeping up with his day and how school's going."

The sheriff's office and the school district are both still investigating the matter.

There could be a decision on criminal charges and disciplinary actions as early as tomorrow.Hobbs Middles School Drug Bust

March 14, 2010 13:09 EDT

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Authorities say a teenage suspect was turned in by family members who recognized the 15-year-old in surveillance footage that was shown on a news broadcast.

According to the Tampa Police Department, the teenager's grandmother called his father and mother after spotting the released footage. The youth's parents then watched the broadcast.

The teen's father turned him in to the Tampa police on Friday night. The boy told investigators that he snatched a woman's purse on Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities say three similiar incidents occured around the area earlier this year, but the teen denied any knowledge of those crimes.
