GULF OF MEXICO - We now know the identity of the man who died while diving the Oriskany on Saturday, but authorities still don't know what caused his death.

The Medical Examiner performed an autopsy on 51-year old Timothy Teagarden of Georgia and found he had a clean bill of health.

As Channel Three's Jake Peterson reports authorities are now looking at Teagarden's equipment.

That's right, the gear was sent off to a diving lab in North Carolina to look for malfunctions.

But, local dive instructors say equipment malfunctions are uncommon.

It's a different world when you're nearly a hundred feet down looking at a sunken air craft carrier.

People come from all over the world to do it all over the world it is truly a world class dive right in our backyard.

Timothy Teagarden of Suwanee Georgia was an Oriskany fan.

He went out with a crew last Saturday for recreational dive, but was found on the ship's deck about two minutes into the dive.

The medical report shows Teagarden had clean bill of health, so now authorities are looking at his equipment.

Very rare and most equipment has fail safe if they do fail they will give you more air than you need, so you'll know to go up,..in some cases folks may not pay attention to their gauges, but thats rare.

Pensacola dive instructor Fritz Sharar says most recreational divers often have months of training before doing the Oriskany.

"We require them to be experienced with at least 20 logged dives advanced certification and dives below eighty feet.

Teagarden was only eighty feet down at the time.

Family members say he was a skilled diver and he had dived the Oriskany before.

Local divers say Teagarden's death is a tragedy, but it's an isolated case.

We've taken literally thousands of people down there to dive it with little problems to speak of.

It is one of the worlds greatest dives.

Another diver died two years ago after diving the Oriskany.

He died from a heart attack shortly after returning from the dive.Man Identified In Diving Death
