ORANGE BEACH - The damage caused by Tropical Storm Ida has forced the *indefinite closing of the Gulf State part pier in Orange Beach.

Strong waves moved some of the deck panels, while other were entirely blown out.
Those panels are designed to dislodge during storms.
The new pier opened in July, and replaced the one destroyed by Hurricane Ivan in 2004.
