PENSACOLA - After more than a year and a half, it was, once again, hockey night in Pensacola.

Friday night, the Pensacola Ice Flyers returned to the rink, facing off with the Louisiana Ice Gators, and fans were excited to have their game back.

"I think it's a good fit. I think it's better than the ECHL, and it looks like Pensacola and Louisiana picked up where they left off."

"It's a great outing. It's exciting! We saw something tonight we've never seen...the coach went spastic."

Coming up in sports, we'll show you why some of the most exciting action at Friday night's hockey game came from one of the coaches.

Hockey's back, and it's back with a bang. The Pensacola Ice Flyers opened their home season against an old rival: the dreaded Louisiana Ice Gators.

Fans were lining up for tickets well into the first period.

Flyers dominated the first: Taylor Hustead controls, loses it, but defender Kevin Floris floats one past A.J. Bucchino. 1-0, Flyers.

Rookies: Anthony Monte gets the puck, circles, and scores. 2-0 at 18:10.

1:00 later, after a fight, Louisiana coach Brent Sapergia seems to disagree with the call.

Apparently the first aid gear is flawed, and clearly, the Ice Gators' sticks are malfunctioning, and the tape is faulty.

2nd, Flyers: Chris Rebernik, goal.

Kevin Galan, goal.

The Gators rallied in the second half, making it a thriller, but it wasn't enough to take down the Flyers' early lead.

Probation for teen who helped in murder plot
November 20, 2009 18:16 EST

MIAMI (AP) -- A 13-year-old Miami Beach boy accused in a murder plot has agreed to a plea deal with prosecutors.

His attorney says the boy accepted the deal Friday and will not serve any serious prison time.

In September, the teen was accused of joining the plot of a 15-year-old friend to kill the older boy's mother. The younger boy stabbed her, but the steak knife broke on her collar bone.

Police charged the son with conspiracy, solicitation to commit murder and tampering with evidence.

The 13-year-old pleaded no contest to a lesser charge of aggravated battery, reduced from the initial charge of attempted murder. He will be on probation for six years and must undergo regular psychiatric treatment.

The 15-year-old boy remains in custody.
