DESTIN - A group of local fishermen and charter boat captains are planning a protest in Destin tomorrow.
They plan to bring at least a hundred boats to the mouth of Destin Harbor....in a very visual protest of the recent fishing changes.
The National Marine Fisheries Service unexpectedly closed the amberjack season on October 24th...After determining the recreational quota had been reached.
The lockdown, combined with the shortened red snapper season, has forced the virtual shutdown of the local fishing fleet, affecting the livelihoods of thousands.
The group hopes the protest will send a strong message.
