PENSACOLA - Even in these tough economic times, the Pensacola Cultural Center managed to burn the mortgage.

Thursday night, board members, volunteers, community leaders, and staff closed the book on 14 years of mortgage payments.

The cultural center is home to the Pensacola Little Theatre and Ballet Pensacola.

Escambia County deeded the former court of records building to Pensacola Little Theatre in 1988, but the building required extensive renovations.

Through lots of work and fundraisers, supporters managed to pay off the nearly two million dollar mortgage, plus cover operating expenses and hurricane damage over the years, to make it the state-of-the-art theatre it is today.Pensacola Cultural Center Pays Off Its Mortgage
