UNTITLED - The National Rifle Association wants Florida lawmakers to ban adoption agencies from asking would-be parents if they own guns.

The group says those questions are invasive and amount to creating an illegal gun registry.

But The Department of Children and Families says *some of the state's adoption forms ask about guns, while others do not.

One republican state senator will introduce a bill to ban that practice.
He got involved after two of his constituents complained when they tried to adopt.

Critics argue that the questions are valid, saying parents often ask if their children's friends have guns in the home,

And that adoption agencies should have the same right.

Woman in newlywed murder plot has court appearance
March 15, 2010 06:03 EDT

MIAMI (AP) -- A South Florida woman accused of hiring an undercover police officer to kill her husband of six months is expected in court for a status hearing.

Dalia Dippolito was charged last August with solicitation to commit first-degree murder. Her court appearance is scheduled for Monday. The 27-year-old is currently on house arrest.

Authorities said Dippolito gave an informant pictures of her husband and $1,200 for a hit man to purchase a handgun. She also offered to create an alibi for herself and detailed her husband's daily schedule.

Before her arrest, authorities staged an elaborate crime scene outside the Dippolito home to make it look like her husband was killed. But it wasn't until she was taken to the Boynton Beach Police Department that she learned about the investigation.
