FORT WALTON BEACH - An Illinois woman pulled from the Gulf of Mexico after almost drowning has died.

A spokesperson for the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office says 64-year-old Lana Lunde was swimming with a friend Monday afternoon when they were both rescued after almost drowning.

Rescue teams were able to help Lunde regain a weak pulse and shallow breathing, but she died Tuesday at the Fort Walton Beach Medical Center. Illinois Woman Rescued From Gulf Dies
