ESCAMBIA COUNTY - Any distraction while driving can be dangerous.

But one particular activity is on the rise, particularly among teens.

It's texting, and doing it while driving can turn deadly.

Wednesday, the students of Washington High School's marketing class wore all black as they kicked off their "Just Drive" campaign.

The goal is to get students to stop texting while they drive.

The group believes if they set an example, others will take the issue seriously.

Aramis Betts/Washington High Senior: "When you see a group of your peers bringing forth some awareness of this validity, you know, it makes the other students say, 'Hey, maybe we should stop doing it because they think it's important.'"

The class hopes their campaign will influence adults as well, and they plan to compete in the state marketing competition next march in Orlando.Local School Group Kicks Off Anti-Texting Drive
