WASHINGTON COUNTY - Washington County Sheriff's Deputies are investigating the babysitter of a missing Chipley infant.

Seven-month-old Shannon Dedrick disappeared from her family's trailer Saturday morning.

Now, a Panama City newspaper is reporting that the child's sitter, Susan Baker, is the same woman implicated in the disappearance of her 3-year-old step-son in 1987.

The paper says Baker was charged with beating the boy before he vanished.

This August, Baker sent an email to Governor Charlie Crist, asking him to save the child from her drug-abusing parents.

The Department of Children and Families investigated, but found no reason to remove the infant.

Peter Digree / Department of Children and Families: "The baby was given a doctor's examination, and it was determined the baby was in good condition. There was no evidence of shaken baby."
