FLORIDA - The governor said yes, but it looks like the Florida Legislature is saying no to the Seminole Gambling Compact.

A select house committee indicated today the compact negotiated by Governor Charlie Crist earlier this year is all but dead.

The decision stems from the amount of money the tribe has agreed to pay the state.

In the governor's compact, the Seminole Tribe would pay Florida 150 million a year to expand the games allowed in their casinos.

But lawmakers were told the state could earn as much as a billion if it licensed all casinos in Florida.

Voters could now be asked to authorize even more gaming next November.Florida Legislature Turns Down Seminole Gambling Compact
