REGIONAL - Economist say retailers are trying to get shoppers to start holiday shopping earlier this year that mean's many stores have already filled seasonal positions.

Channel Three's Jake Peterson tells us who is hiring.

Workers here at the Bass Pro Shop in Spanish Fort are getting Santa's village ready. This is just one of the area's in the store where seasonal workers are in high demand.

The store has already hired 30 workers for the shop.

Managers say they plan to have more sales and promotions this year versus last so seasonal hiring is up.

The store says the weak economy brought out more applicants than ever before, but most companies aren't hiring more.

Economist say 40 percent of retailers plan to hire fewer people this holiday season.

"I need to find a job. I cant living off my parents all the time."

"I guess there are jobs at there but they are hard to find."

The Bass Pro Shop is still taking applications but most of the positions are filled.

Stores like Best Buy and JC Penney are some of the retailers with open spots.
