NAVARRE, FL - The American Legion In Navarre has become the latest veteran's post in our area to be robbed.

Post leaders were called around seven this morning.

They found several doors to the building open... The A-T-M vandalized... And the chapter's safe *stolen.

Post leaders know there have been several more of these kinds of robberies in Northwest Florida over the past couple of weeks.

And thats why the Navarre American Legion was prepared.

Verna Joyce said, They're in for a big surprise, when they open the door because theres only $20 in there. And we feel very happy about that, that we saved all the money that goes to the community and goes to the veterans.

In September, American Legion post 340 in Pensacola was hit for 1,150 dollars.

Then last weekend, there were two Okaloosa County break-ins within 24 hours... Thieves there walked away with more than 3,500 dollars in cash.Navarre American Legion Post Robbed

November 20, 2009 21:39 EST

OCALA, Fla. (AP) -- The Travolta's are home for the Ocala open of the new Disney comedy 'Old Dogs' and to help raise money for five charities.

John Travolta, Kelly Preston and their daughter Ella Bleu Travolta greeted hundreds of fans on the red carpet Friday. The family expressed their appreciation to the community, ending their thanks with: "Love you, Ocala."

In January, 16-year-old Jett Travolta died at the family vacation home in Grand Bahamas.

The private gala raised money for five nonprofit agencies selected by Travolta: The Jett Travolta Foundation, Florida Highway Patrol Advisory Council, Project Hope, the Marion County Public Safety Assistance Trust, and the Humane Society of Marion County.

About 150 tickets at $250 apiece were sold to the general public, and the gala also had private invitations.
