ESCAMBIA COUNTY - Escambia investigators are looking in to the possibility that their latest murder suspects may be connected to a month-long crime spree.

20-year-olds David Gilchrist and Brandon Davis are charged with the murder of a man inside the Oakcrest Lounge and Package on Fairfield Drive in Escambia County.

Earlier today family of Jared Ortiz laid his body to rest.

The 25 year old was sitting at the bar here last week minding his own business when two men burst through these doors, and within seconds, shot him once in the head.

"David"/Oakcrest Lounge Patron: "To be honest with you I'm glad I wasn't here because I probably would have been the one, with my luck, I probably would have been the one that got shot you know."

Oakcrest Lounge regular "David" didn't want his face shown for fear of retaliation.

"David"/Oakcrest Lounge Patron: "I've been coming here 30 plus years and this place ain't never been nothing like that."

And he's not the only one afraid to talk openly about Brandon Davis and David Gilchrist: Two 20 years olds charged with the murder of Jared Ortiz.

The two are well known in their neighborhood but the people here don't dare speak out.

Lives Near Brandon Davis: "I ain't giving you no damn interview. I done told you that!"

Investigators are looking into possible connections to a string of other crimes including this Waffle House robbery on Monday. Two men storm through the door. One takes the cash register, and the other hangs back keeping a gun pointed at the employees: Similar to two other robberies that night and similar to two other Waffle House robberies earlier in the month.

Back at the Oakcrest Lounge you can still find the bullet holes left from the robbery.

The people here hope the arrests are the first step to putting things back to normal.

"David"/Oakcrest Lounge Patron: "This has always been a good bar."

"David": "For somebody to get killed in here, I know it's going to ruin the business and I am so glad that whoever did it is caught. I don't know if they're the right people. I don't know that. Court will tell that. But I am glad they got the persons that did it."

According the arrest report, investigators say Brandon Davis has already confessed his roll in the crime and named his partner, David Gilchrist as the shooter.New Details in Oakcrest Murder
