REGIONAL - It's an issue that's dividing America, but like it or not, our health care system is on the brink of some major changes.

Today Congresman Jeff Miller flew in from Washington with a copy of the house Democrats 894 billion dollar healthcare overhaul bill.

Channel Three's Greg Neuman was there as miller dropped it off at a local library for his constiuents to read.

He joins us now live with reaction to the Bill. Greg?

As you might imagine Congressman Miller's reaction to it is less than positive.

The people we talked to seem split, at least on the concept of healthcare reform that includes a government run insurance option.

It is without question one of hte largest congressional bills you will ever see.

Rep Jeff Miller (R) Chumuckla, "The average citizen and the average member of congress is not going to be able to make heads or tails of what's in this particular piece of legislation"

For wife and mother Miriah King it's not the size of the bill but the content that concerns her.

Miriah King, "The cost of it overall for the economy seems like a big negative that we would end up paying for in the long run with lesser quality care.

Miriah also worries it might limit her choice of providers.

Miriah, "We had a couple of health issues that required specialists and under this health care plan i assume its going to be more difficult to choose the specialist i am most comfortable with."

But Eric Fisk thinks those concerns aren't valid. He recently returned from South Korea after working there for 6 years and says their government run health insurance program works well for patients.

"Eric Fisk"

"You just went to the hospital believe it or not just to see the doctor it was about 3 dollars."

Eric says not only was the cost low but he did have a choice when it came to providers.

Eric, "If I didn't like what the doctor said I walked down the street a couple hundred yards, I'd go see another doctor pay another 3 dollars and get another opinion"

Media reports do say there have been problems with deficits in South Korea due to it's national insurance program and Congressman Miller says there will be more problems here if this bill is passed.

That said, he knows it's still a strong possibility.

Miller says "I think that the speaker and the leader and the president are going to use every bit of political power that they have to work this piece of legislation through."

Democrats will spend the weekend tweeking the bill to secure more moderate votes.

They hope to have a final version of it by next Tuesday and hold a vote a week from today. Congresman Jeff Miller Discusses New Healthcare Bill
