PENSACOLA BEACH, FL - The Santa Rosa Island Authority is considering a crack down on noise in residential areas on the beach.

Channel Three's Jake Peterson tells us why.

Kim Crittenden is used to seeing vacationers come and go from the homes on Ariola Drive.

"People have weddings out here all the time and i think its great and it gives people extra business."

She says the guests are normally respectful and quiet during the day.

"But this peaceful street on Pensacola Beach can turn into party town once the sun goes down."

"I've been up till three am on some nights on a Tuesday, which is crazy cause you have to be at work the next morning. "

"If they came up with some process where they had to stop the music at 10-11 pm on a weekend night that would be nice."

Santa Island Authority Director Buck Lee says that could become a reality.

Several home owners have complained about the lack of laws in place to police partying vacationers in the neighborhoods.

Lee says it's not just residents who are complaining.

"We have tourist that come in here thinking if they rent in a residential area that around 10 at night it will be peace and quiet and we don't want to run them out of here."

"I can't say it's been that aggravating. Whatever the volume is, I'd say it's been workable."

Resident Michael Foley says the beach parties are part of living on the beach.

His family has never had an issue with noise.

"It doesn't seem that much of a problem out here I guess im a neutral observer on that issue."

The island authority will look at different enforcement options at it's next meeting in three weeks.Santa Rosa Island Authority Considering Cracking Down On Noise In Residential Areas
