PENSACOLA - That officer who ran Steen over.... is back on restricted duty.

Assistant Police Chief Chip Simmons says Jerald Ard is assigned to administrative desk duties within the patrol division.... but is not in uniform or on patrol.

Simmons says it is standard for the department to put officers who are being investigated by the FDLE back on restricted duty, especially if it appears the investigation is going to take a long time to complete.

Ard went back on duty a week ago Tuesday.... He had been on paid administrative leave since the time of the incident.

Man shoots himself in leg outside gun store

JUPITER, Fla. (AP) -- A man accidentally shot himself in the leg shortly after leaving a Jupiter gun store.

Police say the unidentified man went to Chuck's Guns and Ammo Monday afternoon, looking for batteries for the laser sight on a small handgun. When the man was back in his car, the gun accidentally fired, hitting him in the leg.

The man was taken to a West Palm Beach hospital for treatment.
