PENSACOLA, FL - The family of a teenage boy, killed by a Pensacola Police cruiser, is speaking out today.

Officer Jerald Ard was patrolling Cervantes Street early Saturday morning, when he says he saw seventeen-year-old Victor Steen on a bike acting suspiciously at a construction site.

He told him to stop, but Steen took off.

Police say during the pursuit, Officer Ard tried to tase the Steen but he missed.

Steen off his bike and into the path of Ard's cruiser.

Channel Three's Jake Peterson joins us live from the crash scene.

Jake when did the family find out what happened.

They found out yesterday afternoon,.

It took sometime because Steen didn't have any ID on him, but a cell phone found here at the scene led them to his mother.

She is trying to stay positive during this tragedy.

As the investigation into what really happened Saturday night continues.

A Pensacola mother is just beginning to deal with her loss.

Cassandra Steen got a call around four Monday afternoon from investigators with the news.

Steen only had one statement about her son's death.

"Faith in Christ is still very much still alive and I will say that I give my condolences to the officer and his family cause we both lost something that night."

She says it wasn't unusual for her son to be gone for an entire weekend.

He would normally spend Friday through Sunday on his bike visiting family members in Brownsville.

They say the PJC Adult High School student was a good kid who loved to sing at local Brownsville churches.

The family is now hoping for a fair and accurate investigation into what happened that night.

Officer Ard is on paid administrative leave pending the FDLE's investigation.

Meanwhile, officer Ard's attorney says his client is in shock and feels awful about the loss.Victor Steen's Family Speaks Out About His Death
