SANTA ROSA - Follow up to a story we told you about last week.

A Navarre woman, who is fighting a vaccination law, had a court hearing in Milton Thursday afternoon.

Carmen Reynolds is suing Florida's governor, attorney general and surgeon general. She is fighting a law that says if there's a severe public danger, the state can force people to be vaccinated. The law makes no exceptions for health conditions or religious objections. The only alternative is quarantine. The statute says law enforcement officers can be called in if necessary. The attorney general's office has filed a motion to dismiss, saying that Reynolds hasn't been directly affected by the law.

Carmen Reynolds: "I served my country for 22 years not to be told that I am a criminal, a 2nd degree misdemeanor offender because I raised my hand and said this isn't right. I don't want toxins in my body because it jeopardizes my health."Vaccine Hearing

NJ man charged in fatal fire captured in Florida
November 20, 2009 18:07 EST

BELVIDERE, N.J. (AP) -- Florida authorities have captured a man who allegedly set a fire that killed his elderly parents in their northwestern New Jersey home.

The Warren County Prosecutor's Office said 58-year-old Carmine Salerno of Oxford was arrested Friday morning by Collier County sheriff's officers. New Jersey authorities had notified them that Salerno might be in their area.

The prosecutor's office filed felony murder charges against Salerno on Wednesday, saying its investigation determined that he started the June 2 fire in Mansfield Township.

The blaze killed 96-year-old Carl Salerno and his 89-year-old wife, Margaret. Their other son, 54-year-old Anthony P. Salerno, was seriously injured.

The prosecutor's office did not comment on a motive.
