Taxpayer Bill of Rights: Do you support or oppose a Taxpayer Bill of Rights to cap taxing and spending by local governments?

50% Support
37.5% Oppose

Comment: The county shouldn't have the right to raise property taxes from 100% to 300% in any given year from Jay, FL by Roger

Comment: The name given to this bill is clever - who could not be for a 'bill of rights'? However, this initiative, rather than protecting those who are already Floridians, would choke the state, preventing any local repair and development. I don't want to live in the past. I want to live in the future. from Pensacola, FL by JR

Comment: Who are the opponents that say it would have ruined the economy? I think that is more double talk. I'm tired of government spending money like there is an endless supply. from Pensacola, FL by Christy Ann

Comment: Local tax payers should be able to decide how thier local tax dollars are spent. This decision should not be made by beaurocrats/professional politications in Tallahassee. from Destin

Comment: i believe that this idea, and there are lots of bad ideas around here...(gun bill to allow guns to be carried to work?), is a hinderance to a working government for all. as bipartisan as this state is, this bill would further hinder the use of tax money. the tax payer would only want projects they directly benefit from. not for the benfit of the overall population. from p'cola by h

Comment: Taxation (of any sort) is not a "silver bullet". What we need is to find more responsible individuals who can and will work with what they have. It seems to me the only benefit out of any taxation is an increase in someones' salary. Why can't we just learn to get along without the greed? Everytime somebody seems to get something working right, they inevitably end up with the answer: I deserve a raise. from Mary Esther, FL. by Tom

Comment: cut spending, cut taxes, cut services! Show us the state budget, and get our opinion on where to cut. from Navarre, FL by Gene

Comment: I support this because I believe that something needs to be done about the liberal tax hikes that the governments places on taxpayers each year. The working poor are being taxed to death, while the rich are getting away scot free. We don't need our officers cut or our schools cut anymore!! What we need is to cut the government's spending on $1,000 toilet seats and other miscellaneous expenses that aren't needed! We also don't need these fatcat politicians sitting on their butts making more money than a working class person could dream of making in a lifetime, yet alone a year! They need to think smarter and stop trying to line their wallets while the working class citizens go without! from Pensacola, FL by Monica

Comment: why must we cut money from the schools. our schools need help. why dont we cut some salaries from the people watching this happen? lets cut money off the top not the bottom. by kevin
