Same sex education: Do you think same sex classes or schools would improve education in Florida?

73.68% Yes
21.05% No

Comment: its about time this thought came around. in many parts of the world where students there are killing our students academic butts in the classroom, they have often practiced sexual segregation of the students until at least high school! then they are placed into the same schools...if they have not elected to go to a single gender high school! yes, it is better for the students if this happens! where do you think the georgia schools got their influence from? yes, overseas! from p'cola by h

Comment: No, are you people CRAZY!? Back in the "good ole days" it was ONE classroom and ALL children were in it, and they learned just as well. If parents would stop allowing their kids to watch television and play video games 24/7, and feed them better foods, it wouldn't be the problem it is today. Kids need to be FORCED to think, not coddled. We are raising a nation of children and it NEEDS to be STOPPED. from Niceville/FL by Cynthia

Comment: We believe that children - especially teenagers would learn much better if there was a separation of sexes..at least in classrooms, probably much better in separate schools. by georgia

Comment: Distractions and short skirts and low pants for males do not allow attention to class material. After puberty the hormones control the eyes and the other parts of human anatomy. Grandpa Ray from Fort Walton Beach, FL by Ray

Comment: i think they should keep classes the same...otherwise my children probally won't be social. from alabama by mills

Comment: It's not a bad idea to seperate boys and girls, especially as they get older. We had boy's high and girl's high in Atlanta, Ga. when I first started, but then changed it after integration by race. The only real issue will be with a transgender student who is a boy, but wants to be a girl and his parents sue for special accomadations. from Pensacola by James

Comment: It would absolutely help. I am older and presumably much wiser now than I was back then. Putting that sage advice aside for a moment, I can remember the enormous distraction that "co-ed" education presented to me personally. For one semester in high school, I attended an all boys school; and I can say that I feel that "co-ed" is more harmful than good. Let's face it, teen years are not the easiest to live thru, and with our bodies in flux during our education years, we (humanity) needs every advantage there is. As you said Bob, getting through the tough classes is hard enough without the gender distraction (which does play an important role in a boys life)adding to the difficulty of maintaining passing grades. One other side point, keeping our kids in school for an eight hour day will not kill any of them; I lived through eight hour school days until I got to college. from Mary Esther, Fl. by Tom

Comment: No i dont cause of the fact the youth today in reality is more into hooking up with each other and hanging in groups then learning. from Pace,Fl by Justin
